I was born upstairs above the Whey Pat Tavern in 1945, my father and his family owned the pub. All my brothers and sisters were born there too, all 6 of us, that was in the days when home births were the norm. We moved out in the mid 1950's when the pub was sold, It had been in our family for many years, long before the war. No doubt some of the older folk will remember my parents who ran the pub, or even my grandfather before them. (3/5)

My wife Karen and I visited The Whey Pat after walking a chunk of the Fife Coastal Path, following a recommendation from a friend. We were not disappointed. Excellent nachos, reasonable prices, a good pint and friendly service (thanks for the directions to the Bus Station !) We'll definitely return. (5/5)

Up there with the best of pub grub in my view. Excellent quality, wide selection, healthy options, real value for money and great service with a smile. And well kept, ever changing real ales on offer as well. When I go to heaven this is the type of place that should be going with me!! Awesome. Know it says to use Excellent sparingly but just cannot see past this place. (5/5)

Featuring great food and one of the best selection of ales in the town, the Whey Pat is an excellent place to sit and have a pint and some nachos with friends. A very warm atmosphere with a mix of students and locals. The folk night is especially recommended. (5/5)

Decent, honest, clean and wholesome... reasonably priced proper grub. Sandwhiches are excellent, three layered affairs. Recently they've even improved their menu to include fantastic looking hot stews, chowders and soups. If it's value and quality you want.. this is the place. Friendly staff also. I'd go here rather than some yuppie themed place any thime of the week. (5/5)

A pub for locals of St Andrews - very friendly and good banter. (4/5)
