On Saturday 21 August I visited Bella Italia at St. Andrews with my girlfriend. It was my idea to visit Bella Italia. Unfortunately the evening was severely lacking for the reasons listed below I will not be going back again.
-On arriving there was no where to sit and wait for a table, but instead we had to stand by the open front door.
-On of the diners near to the door complained about the draught, but the waiter refused to close it. The man did indeed close the door himself, but the waiter saw it and propped it open again.
-We were seated upstairs near to the kitchen and in a busy thoroughfare for all the staff going to and from the kitchen. There was a strong smell of cooking with smoke billowing out from the kitchen.
-The carpet appeared to have been a red colour, once, but now was dirty and stained and pretty foul.
-Its appearance was not enhanced by the spilled food which had been squashed in to it and ignored through the evening by all the passing staff.
-The large chandelier type light fitting immediately above our table had had a bulb missing and the individual glass light shades were very dirty. They looked as if they had mud on them and clearly the light fitting had not been cleaned for years if indeed ever.
-When the diners at our nearest table finished and left, no one bothered to clear the plates and glasses etc.
-At one point a passing waiter carrying plates dropped a fork by a table. He carried on walking and possible did not realise that he had dropped it. Successive waiters walked passed, stepping over it to avoid treading on it. Eventually one did stop and pick it up. He merely placed it on a plate on the adjacent table and carried on his way.
-One of the kitchen staff through a screwed up piece of paper, fist sized, from the kitchen on to one of the restaurant tables. Unoccupied fortunately.
-When our food arrived, my girlfriends pasta with Salmon, didn’t actually have any Salmon in it. The waited did not seem surprised exclaiming that they had done it again.
Done even think about eating here.
